Maria S. Morales | Costume Designer
Maria was born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York City. Her career has spanned the fine arts as well as design and production for dance and theatre. Her fine art works have been exhibited at the Grand Central Galleries, Queensboro Community Art Gallery, Norman Crider Gallery and Queens Museum of New York. She worked with the Miami Light Project in Tania Leon’s “Drumming’s”, the Playground Theatre for Young People in the production of “Pluft, the Little Ghost” and “The Brooklyn Bridge” and for the Art Basel collaborated with her sister Haydee Morales in “Car and Fishes” for the opening of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. In 1990 she joined the Miami City Ballet founded by Edward Villella as Costume Artist. She worked in many of the company’s ballet productions ranging from choreographers Jerome Robbins, George Balanchine, Paul Taylor, Liam Scarlet, Alexie Ratmansky, Justin Peck and Twyla Tharp. She participated in “Broward 100” the 100th birthday celebration of Broward County and worked with the newly founded Dimension Dance Theatre of Miami.
