The highly anticipated annual Daniel Lewis Dance Sampler returns for its 13th edition with performances on two Florida coasts, featuring 10 of the best of Florida’s companies and choreographers. From ballet to modern, contemporary to flamenco, the curated showcase includes Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, Ballet Flamenco La Rosa, Ballet Vero Beach, Dance NOW! Miami, Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami, Omayra Amaya Flamenco Dance Company, Emily Ricca, Syncopate Collective, New World Dance Ensemble and the Zest Collective.

DLDS Video Dance Showcase

The Sampler also recognizes the work of “dance for the screen” with the DLDS Video Dance Showcase. These unique video works will be available to view starting September 29 free of charge.

Gli Altri opens a window into the lives of people traveling through a train station; taking us on a journey into each of their histories or futures. We may discover something secret, painful or even humorous us as we get to know these characters in unexpected ways.
Dance NOW! continues its commitment to International Cultural Partnerships with the presentation of “Gli Altri/The Others,” the critically acclaimed dance theater work. This social commentary highlighting marginalized, unseen, hidden and even repressed people will be presented with a blended cast from both companies, dancing on one stage together.

Program I: Dance NOW! presents "Clara" with special guest Opus Ballet
DNM pivots the holiday favorite, presenting a contemporary adaptation of the Nutcracker, for adult eyes only! "Clara" charts the journey of a young woman, exploring and experiencing the exotic, the unknown and the forbidden, in search of love, identity and self determination. The holiday classic will feature a reimagined score from Berlin-based composer Davidson Jaconello, drawn from the original Tchaikovsky music with costumes from the Morales sisters. Also on the bill, international collaborator Opus Ballet from Florence will travel to Miami for their US debut.
