Giovanni Castellon | Dancer

 Giovanni is from Miami, Florida, where he studied at New World School of the Arts High School and Miami Dance Collective. During his time there, he had the opportunity to learn the works of Ohad Naharin, Jessica Lang, and Peter London, among others. He continued his studies at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts as a Kenan Excellence Scholar, earning a BFA in Contemporary Dance with a minor in Arts Entrepreneurship. Alongside his training at UNCSA, he has had the opportunity to learn the works of Shen Wei, Ming-Lung Yang, Igal Perry, and Jose Limón. Professionally he has learned and worked with Jacob Jonas, Robert Battle, Dante Puleio, Ella Rothschild, and Sam Coren.

During his time at UNCSA, Giovanni discovered his love and passion for choreography, production, and directing. Creating works that are grounded, earthy, human, and extreme. He has presented work at Peridance Presents, the SoloDuo Dance Festival, and Dumbo Dance Festival. His most recent work “Time-Lapse”, dedicated to his grandfather, attempts to closely show the effects of Alzheimer’s from 4 different perspectives.
